Properities of Aeromonas hydrophila Toxins

Abstract
A maximum hemolysin producing strain (A. Hydrophila P2) was seleted among Aeromonas spp from human and was examined hemolysin producing activity according to various medium conditions. When matose was added in the medium to be used as a carbon
source
source, the hemolysin production was not influence. But when of glucose, fructose, sucrose and lactose was added in the medium, the hemolysin production was decrased. When each of urea and sodium nitrate was added in the medium to be used as
nitrogen
source, the hemolysin production was not influenced. When each of ammonium sulfate and ammonium chlorde was added in the medium, however, the hemolysin production was increased. When each of yeast extract, petone and ammonium phosphate was added
in
medium, the hemplysin production was decreased. When each of various ions was added in the medium, the hemolysin productin was decrased by 2mM of Ca, but increased by 1mM of Cu and 2mM of Mn. The hemolysin production was increased by 50mM
concentration
of phosphate, but the hemolysin production was decreased by 150mM concertration of phosphate.
A. hydrophila P2 and A. hudrophila ATCC 7966 were examined the hemolysin production and the cytotoxin production according to growh. A hydrophila P2 began to produce the cytotoxin at 4 hrs. and A. hydrophila ATCC 7966 began to produce the
cytotoxin
at 6
hrs. But both strains produced the masimum amount of the cytotoxin at 18 hrs . A. hydrophila to produce the heomolysin at 8hrs. and A. hydrophila ATCC 1966 at 6hrs. The results of the gel electrophoresis of the hemolysin coincide with above data.
The
hemolysin of A. hydrophila P2 appeared as bands at 8hrs, but the two bands became on band by 16-18hrs. The hemolysin of A. hydrophila ATCC 7966 appeared as one band at 6 hrs, but one band became two bands by 14-16hrs.
